Very Rare Gustav Stickley Harvey Ellis original signed custom small server .

Very rare, possibly one of a kind, Gustav Stickley / Harvey Ellis custom ( special order ) version of the model # 802 server. The number 802 can be found hand written in graphite in three places, along with the abbreviation of "Spl" ( special ) for special order. In over 25 years specializing in furniture from the Arts & Craft Movement, Stickley era, we have never before seen this sweet form on the market or in catalogues. It may have been a prototype, custom ordered piece or simply a very rare uncatalogued form. It is basically the single drawer version of the wider, very successful 2 drawer design, model #802 two-drawer Gustav Stickley server. The overhanging top, dramatic arch under the drawers, the extended sides and the tapered legs create a beautiful and graceful form. This diminutive server / tall stand requires very little floor space and would complement any room in a Craftsman Bungalow or Stickley collection. Due to it's height, it will lend itself well as a nightstand with many of today's higher beds. Measures approximately 37" tall by 24 1/2" wide by 17 1/2" deep. It retains it' original finish and beautiful patina, original hand hammered copper pull retains a patina particularly rich in color . There is a repair, as shown, on the inside of one side & to the backing board behind the drawer on the reverse, light finish enhancement to the top. Signed with the firms red decal & a remnant of the paper label. The cursive "Spl" abbreviation for "special" appears more like "Shl". During the early 1900's a cursive "p" was written open in the manner that an "h" is written today. An accurate replica is also available.
